Celtic winger Yang put in an admirable performance in the Hoops’ 7-1 thrashing of Dundee on Wednesday evening. He didn’t score, yet his display earned him the in-stadium man-of-the-match award.
The wide man constantly ran at Owen Beck, and manager Brendan Rodgers was full of praise for him after proceedings ended. The gaffer hailed his unpredictability as he noticed the improvements he had made since the Hoops last met the Dee.
After impressing with an impactful display versus Motherwell last weekend, Yang continued his upward trajectory this evening. He assisted Daniel Kelly for his maiden strike in senior football with a delightful cut-back cross.
Post-match, he posted on Instagram:
He captioned his post with ‘First mom at Celtic! Thank you to the fans who support us!’, right-back Alistair Johnston hilariously replied ‘Congrats on your first mom’. Yang means mom in terms of man of the match, but Johnston jokes towards another definition of the word.
Looking ahead to the weekend, Yang will be hoping for another ‘mom’ at Tynecastle. The South Korean internationalist will in all likelihood start the match and if he and his teammates perform to the levels they did this evening, things will only bode well.
