Young Celtic forward Rocco Vata has shot up the scoring charts in under-21 European Championship qualifying.
Vata bagged a hat-trick for the Republic of Ireland away at San Marino last Friday evening, propelling his tally to five in two group A appearances.
Such a number means he is joint-third-top-scorer, ranking among prominent Premier League youngsters such as Liverpool’s Harvey Elliott and Noni Madueke of Chelsea.
The 18-year-old’s contract with Celtic is due to expire in a matter of months, and there has been no update surrounding it for a while despite the club offering an extension until 2027 to the player [RecordSport].
Several Serie A teams did take in his outstanding performance for Ireland last week, but one must remember it was against San Marino.
With the league as close as it is and the depth Brendan Rodgers now has in attack, it is difficult to see where any opportunities for Vata may come from.
All the teenager can do is work hard in training to gain chances that at the moment, aren’t appearing in their droves.
