Former Celtic manager, captain, and club legend Neil Lennon has outlined the fringe player he thinks could have a big say in the Hoops’ title charge over the next few weeks and months.
Veteran winger James Forrest, who was somewhat exiled over the past few months, has come back into the side over the last two games and impressed.
Versus Livingston, he replaced Nicolas Kuhn with 15 minutes to go and looked dynamic. His header sent Kyogo through on goal to seal the 4-2 cup victory.
Then against St. Johnstone on Saturday, Forrest got The Bhoys’ third with a thorough strike that arrowed into the far corner of the net.
Manager Brendan Rodgers said a few weeks ago that the 32-year-old will have a role to play between now and the end of the season, his words proving dividends.
Indeed, the successor of Rodgers from his first spell at Celtic, Lennon, thinks that Forrest could contribute towards the destination of the title: “I’ve got to give a big shoutout to James Forrest as well”, he said (PLZ Soccer).
“He might have a say in the title run-in as well, Jamesy.
“He’s a clean finisher, right-foot left-foot, great movement, and I think he’ll be more at the forefront of Brendan’s thinking in the run-in now.”
