Maik Nawrocki a Lucky Bhoy, Claims Pundit

Celtic dropped league points for the sixth time this season on Saturday afternoon at Pittodrie. Nicolas Kuhn’s second-half leveller could only gain the Hoops a draw in the North East.

The champions were fortunate not to lose the game given the pressure Aberdeen surmounted onto them in the second 45 but similarly, the Dons could have been left in the dumps had the Celts taken their first-half opportunities.

The champions didn’t deserve to win, but centre-back Maik Nawrocki probably did deserve to be sent off. The defender lost out to Bojan Miovski inside his own team’s final third. Already on a yellow, the Pole brought the striker down and should have been given a second booking.

That is the opinion of former Dons man Russell Anderson, who thinks Nawrocki should have been ordered off. He said (Live on air on Sky via Glasgow Times): “You talk about turning points in games and stuff and I know there was a long way to go after the potential incident we’re talking about but I just cannot see how that second incident is not a yellow card.

“It baffles me how you can get a decision like that wrong and it does make you wonder if he hadn’t been on a booking, would he have given him a yellow card.”

Had the 22-year-old been ordered off, things could have gotten much worse for the champions. They may not have even come away with a point if they went down to ten.

Nawrocki, however, was fortunate and it was telling that Brendan Rodgers subbed him off for Stephen Welsh not long after his incident with Miovski.
