Former Celtic right-back Jeremie Frimpong is flying with Bundesliga side Bayer Leverkusen this season.
Across all competitions, the Dutch internationalist has scored 11 goals and assisted as many.
He burst onto the scene in Glasgow back in 2019 and similarly, his reputation across the continent has taken a major upturn over the past few months.
Frimpong is one of the most sought-after prospects in European football and should he depart Leverkusen at any point, Celtic know they are due a significant chunk of any fee.
The player himself, though, has admitted he has no knowledge of such an agreement and is focused fully on his football. “I don’t know about that”, he told Glasgow Times.
“I feel if you are playing well in football there is always talk about where someone might go next, or if they are going to stay. But I am so focused on Leverkusen and the competitions we are still competing for.
“I’m very hopeful we can win them. It’s an exciting time for my club. It’s going to be difficult with eight games to go but it’s full gas until the end of the season.”
Frimpong’s Leverkusen sit 10 points clear at the top of the Bundesliga with just eight games left. They are now undoubted favourites to win the league.
The 23-year-old would love to add to the treble he won at Celtic in a few weeks as Die Werkself look to secure their maiden German title.
