Celtic midfielder David Turnbull completed a permanent move away from the club on transfer deadline day. For two million pounds, the treble-winner joined Cardiff City in the English Championship.
It seemed to be a move that progressed rather swiftly, and it was announced late on Thursday evening.
In reaction to the deal, Hoops defender Greg Taylor posted on his Instagram story. The left-back hailed his now ex-teammate as a great person and player, admitting he will miss him:
Turnbull and Taylor enjoyed quite the bromance at Celtic. The pair maintained a positive relationship on the park as well as off it, with both players also heavily involved in the Scotland set-up. The full-back is clearly saddened by his teammate’s move.
For the club, Turnbull made a vast 136 appearances over three and a half years. In this time, he bagged 31 goals from midfield and registered 23 assists.
Brought in from Motherwell in 2020, the champions have got their money’s worth out of the player. He contributed significantly to the club’s revival post-Covid, but he did seem to split opinion among the supporters.
Some thought rather highly of the Scotland internationalist, while others labelled him as slow, lethargic, and below-par. Now, however, those debates have been put to bed with his move to Wales which not many would have expected at the beginning of January.
