Callum McGregor Makes Concerning Celtic Dressing Room Admission

Celtic failed to retake a three-point lead at the top of the Scottish Premiership on Saturday evening. A 1-1 draw at home to Kilmarnock was a hugely disappointing result that jeopardises the Hoops’ title hopes.

It looked as though it would be a routine victory for The Bhoys when Kyogo opened the scoring just after the half-hour mark. David Watson, however, had other ideas, nodding home late on to steal a point for Killie.

After the game, manager Brendan Rodgers took responsibility for the result on his shoulders although Callum McGregor did make a concerning acknowledgement about some members of the Parkhead dressing room.

Speaking to CeltsAreHere post-match, the skipper admitted that, potentially, the message of having to perform and win every week has yet to get through to some players. He said: “We have to find a way to communicate and make the players aware that when they go on the pitch, there’s a certain standard that’s required”.

After he said this, McGregor was asked if the message of the level required was yet to hit home for some players. He replied: “When you keep finding yourself in this position, then maybe.”

From last season to the current one, there have been a few alterations to the squad but apart from two players (Luis Palma and Adam Idah), every starter in the Hoops’ team today has won a league title with the club.

There are a lot of new names who are regularly among the subs and if they do not know the required standard at the club, fans are right to have their concerns about how the gaffer is managing his players.
