Celtic stormed to a magnificent 7-1 win over Dundee on Wednesday evening. Every player on the scoresheet was different in what was a pleasing night for everyone involved with the club.
The scoring was opened early on by Cameron Carter-Vickers before Matt O’Riley, Adam Idah, Daizen Maeda, Greg Taylor, Callum McGregor, and Daniel Kelly got in on the act.
Fans reacted to the half-time whistle as if it was a goal. There was a similar noise when the game ended.
Post-match, manager Brendan Rodgers has spoken out. He admitted his delight at the performance in his post-match interview on BBC Sportsound with Jane Lewis.
While chatting with the reporter, Rodgers was asked if the performance was sparked by something he said, to which he comically replied: “It certainly wasn’t what I said to you!”
This quip was undoubtedly veiled dig at the mainstream media who made a mountain out of the manager’s previous ‘good girl’ comments to Lewis.
She admitted after it that she took no offence from them, and that the gaffer didn’t mean any harm by them. It is positive that the relationship between the pair is sound as ever.
