Former Celtic manager Ronny Deila is set to part ways with Belgian top-flight side Club Brugge.
The Norwegian boss, who joined Brugge in May of last year following just under a year as Standard Liege gaffer, won’t continue in Belgium, according to Nieuwsblad.
Despite seeing his side through to the quarter-finals of the Europa Conference League last Thursday following a 4-2 aggregate win over Molde, a 2-1 defeat to St. Truiden on Sunday was the last straw for the Brugge board.
The side languishes in fourth of the Belgian top flight ahead of the playoffs, and Nicky Hayen, boss of second-tier side Club NXT, is set to replace Deila in the dugout.
At the age of 48, this sacking will put an end to Deila’s spell at his sixth club. Celtic was only his second and since then, he has gained vast experience.
He would have won a treble in Glasgow had Josh Meekings’ blatant handball at Hampden been spotted, but it wasn’t to be and although his two years in Glasgow weren’t as prosperous as he would have liked, the Hoops faithful will always hold him in a relatively high regard.
