Celtic winger Liel Abada could reunite with former Hoops striker and fan favourite Giorgos Giakoumakis amid MLS interest from Atlanta United in the 22-year-old.
Manager Brendan Rodgers has stressed in his past few press conferences that Abada remains not in the right frame of mind to play for his side. Naturally, transfer speculation has arisen.
Per Israeli outlet Sport 5, MLS sides Austin FC and Atlanta United have both expressed an interest in the player. The transfer window across the pond remains open until April 23, giving either of these sides sufficient time to get a deal done.
Atlanta is said to be on ‘good terms’ with Celtic having signed Giorgos Giakoumakis last January. A link-up with the Greek striker, whom Abada assisted many times in Glasgow, could be on the cards if he joins the club.
To facilitate a permanent move away from Glasgow, Abada is willing to give up a percentage of the sale fee that he is entitled to. He wants out of Celtic, and finding an end to the saga should be top of the priority list for all parties.
