Celtic’s Yuki Kobayashi has seen his potential loan move to HJK Helsinki collapse, according to Football Insider.
The 23-year-old, who has failed to secure a spot in Brendan Rodgers’ squads, was reportedly set for an exit during the January transfer window, with a move to Harry Kewell’s Yokohama F. Marinos speculated but ultimately not materialising.
Kobayashi had travelled for discussions with the Finnish club, following Celtic’s approval for the loan. HJK Helsinki, whose transfer window remains open until April, showed significant interest in acquiring the services of the centre-back. Despite the promising progression of negotiations, the deal has now been halted, leading Kobayashi to resume training with Celtic.
Celtic have had their troubles at the back this season, with injuries keeping Carter-Vickers out, with Maik Nawrocki also having injury problems. Lagerbielke has put in a decent shift when played, but clearly is not rated by the manager, leading to Stephen Welsh and Liam Scales being Celtic’s starting defensive partnership.
