Neil Lennon has spoken of his belief that Celtic will still win the league despite poor recent performances.
Despite Celtic blowing an eight-point lead, which sees the Hoops currently sitting top of the league on goal difference, the Irishman is confident that his former side will still go on to retain the Scottish Premiership title at the end of the season.
He said (Sky Sports): “The players themselves need to change the narrative.
“There’s 14 games to go, they might need to win 13 of them, and they are capable of doing that; they are the champions, they won the treble last year.
“There’s a long way to go, and I still expect Celtic to win the league, but obviously, everyone wants to see that sort of panache and swashbuckling performances from them.”
Lennon’s comments show that despite the Hoops putting in a number of poor performances in recent months, the Scottish Premiership is now entering the business end of the season.
With Rangers in good recent form following their defeat at Celtic Park on December 30th, Celtic are still in a position of strength, especially with players like Daizen Maeda returning to training this week.
Tonight presents Celtic with an opportunity to kickstart their season and begin a winning streak.
Easter Road has proven to be a difficult ground for Brendan Rodgers to conquer, having never won in Leith as Celtic manager.
However, he will undoubtedly have his players more than prepared for the game.
