Brendan Rodgers Addresses Wild WhatsApp Rumour

Brendan Rodgers has responded to recent speculation regarding his happiness and future at the club.

Following reports suggesting discontent over a lack of transfers, Rodgers addressed the rumours with honesty and openness.

He said (Football Scotland): “There were reports that I’m this really unhappy person and I flew out to Switzerland or somewhere after the game the other day, which I found strange when I was reading it in Finnieston.

“There’s probably still a wee bit of that of people thinking, ‘how long is he going to be here?’ and ‘can we trust him?’

“But I want to give everything, and I want to be here as long as I possibly can be. If I can have success here with the team and we can look forward and into Europe then brilliant.

“But I certainly wasn’t away having any crisis talks.”

With Rodgers’ clear statements, Celtic supporters can rest assured of his dedication to the club for the remainder of his three-year contract.

Despite outside speculation, Rodgers remains committed to progressing Celtic in Europe, having recorded the club’s first win at Celtic Park in the group stage of the Champions League in just over 10 years against Feyenoord.

Celtic are currently in the middle of a transition period from Ange Postecoglou’s recruitment style of signing unknown talents for minimal fees.

However, as the summer window proved, the longer Celtic has persisted with this strategy, the less successful it has been. Rodgers is clearly looking to find more established first-team players who will slot immediately into the starting 11.

With his connections to English football, it appears likely that the Hoops will look to find more players from the English market.
